Hi, folks! Today I plan to share my rasta-experience after visiting infinite party Seoul in South Korea. Brief conclusion - for some reason it’s not easy to get really good🍀cannabis buds or hash in Seoul in an “oldschool way”, but options do exist. Below I describe what is going on with weed in Seoul.
Got back home from Seoul just 2 days ago, so writing this post with fresh memory smoking a small joint of white widow strain. Had an amazing stay in Seoul that would never be so cool without sex, drugs and rock’n’roll smelly ganja buds.
Where to buy weed in Seoul
Joe shared his experience on the weed purchase process in Seoul. As he said - big dealers purchase everything via darknet - there are services or “onion sites” like DrChronic or Bitpharma where they purchase big portions (via Tor browser and crypto) or cooperate with local cannabis growers.
After that they simply resell weed to tourists and locals in Seoul. In fact you may also go this way, while for tourists this is usually not acceptable - you need to know how do onion sites and Tor browsers work, have corresponding accounts on darknet websites, too long to wait for your package (2 - 7 days), high risks at all steps of this chain, etc etc.
If you are just having a short vacation or a trip to Seoul - purchasing weed via wholesale darknet websites is not an option. Looking for dealers on the streets and in parks is still something you may do to find some weed in Seoul, but more and more dealers are shifting to online orders done via messengers and payments in bitcoins instead of cash. This simply protects them from ever being caught by cops. Crypto payments are anonymous and delivery is done to selected location without any personal meetings, so both you and the dealer are secured from any possible consequences.
This was a surprise for me cause I am more old school and just “heard something about crypto”. While now all youngsters (who are usually a target group for cannabis dealers) have crypto wallets so dealers simply follow the trend. I think dealers are losing money anyway because not all clients know crypto, but Joe commented that nowadays if you do not use crypto - you 100% have a friend who uses it, so you may just send him money from card and he does crypto transaction for you. After that I remembered I also have such a friend, so I agreed with Joe.
What do locals think about ganja in Seoul
The fact that cannabis is strictly regulated by f*cking officials the government does not mean that local inhabitants of Seoul are too much against weed. Mostly - they simply do not care. Of course it is better to preserve some common rules and not to smoke weed in public in Seoul, but even if someone notices you - this will not be treated as some crime or inappropriate behavior.
The overall attitude of locals to weed is rather relaxed, so you may even feel yourself home in Seoul after one good joint, telling this from my own experience. Joe shared with me a joint of simply perfect sativa (while he did not know the exact strain). We were smoking outside the bar, and saw other guys doing the same on the other side of the street 😁 So I can definitely say that smoking weed is rather popular in Seoul.
I’ve asked Joe if he may share contacts of his dealer, cause stuff was out of this world. He told me that his exact dealer does not work with new people, so he will be my dealer during my vacation, which was simply perfect. I wish everyone to find your own Joe in some bar of Seoul.
Cannabis laws in Seoul, South Korea
It is important to note that cannabis, weed, and hash are prohibited in Seoul. You can not officially purchase marijuana strains with high THC concentration in some coffee shops like in Amsterdam. Medical CBD cannabis may be available for purchase at dispensaries, but a prescription from a doctor is required, and you will never get high with CBD.
In one sports bar I got acquainted with Joe who moved to Seoul 3 years ago, so he knows the local drug scene. According to Joe - despite cannabis being banned according to laws, cops are generally relaxed about weed, sometimes being smokers themselves.
How the Cannabis Law Is Enforced in Seoul
Technically, any cannabis product with more than 1% THC is illegal in Seoul. However, Joe explained that the police tend to be relatively relaxed when it comes to cannabis in Seoul, especially with tourists.
If you’re caught with a small amount — less than 10 grams of weed or 5 grams of hash — you’re unlikely to face serious consequences. The police might confiscate your weed, but it’s unlikely you’ll get into much trouble as long as you’re discreet.

Is high-THC weed illegal in Seoul?
Yup, you won’t find high-THC bud legally unless it’s medical, but the cops aren’t usually trippin' if you’re packin' less than 10 grams.
What happens if you get caught with weed in Seoul?
Depends. If you’re lookin' like you’re movin' weight, you could catch some heat. But most tourists with a small stash aren’t bothered much.
Can you still find weed the old-school way in Seoul?

Prices vary from dealer to dealer and usually depend on quality and anything else. From what I saw - super high quality weed may go up to $20 - $25 per 1 gram (while the more you buy - the lower price you get), and high quality hash was around $30-$35 per 1 gram. Have not seen low quality weed in Seoul so do not know the prices, but should be lower.
